The open-air museum was built thanks to the subsidy from the European Union and the support of the local governments. The idea originated in 1988. Formal steps to create an open-air museum in Trzcinica as a part of the Subcarpathian Museum in Krosno were undertaken a year later. To achieve this goal an agreement has been reached between the municipal government of Jasło, the Jasło district and the commune. The buyout of the plots to build the open-air museum took place in 2000-2005 and 2008-2009. The local spatial development plan for the Carpathian Troy has been approved in 2003, and in 2005 the project was included in the multiannual investment program. In 2006 the European Economic Area Financial mechanism committee in Brussels approved the subsidy of our project. The building works commenced in October of 2007 and lasted for two years until the summer of 2010 when the open-air museum was destroyed by flooding. With all the rebuilding work finally over, the ceremony of opening of the Carpathian Troy Archaeological Open-Air Museum took place on 24-26 June 2011. EEA Financial Mechanism subsidized the building of the open-air museum with the amount of €1,747,001.00.
