The young discoverer’s room is an amazing place for the youngest visitors. The topics of the classes include the history of the hillfort in Trzcinica and the difficulty level is tuned to match the age and needs of the children. The room is equipped with teaching materials, multimedia, reconstructions of toys used by children in prehistory as well as modern-day toys. In this cosy and welcoming environment, the youngest discoverers will be taken on a trip to prehistoric times to learn about the world of their peers, hundreds or thousands of years ago.
The classes are for organised groups only. They start with the story about Leokadia, who is a time traveller discovering the prehistoric inhabitants of the hillfort in Trzcinica. The story encompasses a multimedia presentation with special captions for children. Then, the participants learn about everyday items such as clay pots, wooden vessels, decorative woven bands, clothes and toys. The next part is the art classes. All children leave the workshops with a personalised Young Time Traveller Diploma. As a supplementary attraction, the children are invited to listen to the Phone Call from the Past – a series of stylised fairy tales about the hillfort in Trzcinica, told over an old-school phone, by Michał Malinowski, one of the most recognised storytellers in Europe.
Classes are tailored to the needs of kindergarten children and schoolchildren. In the summer season, some parts of the classes take place in a cottage in the Archaeological Park. During weekdays (Tuesday-Friday) the room is available for organised groups of kindergarten children, school children, or any groups of a minimum of 5 children. During outdoor events, the room is available within the timeframes for the events.
